The arts calendar is always full and includes everything from first Friday gallery crawls to visiting one of the many museums located in the city. Museums
Culture is always on display in Charlotte and a number of museums can make for an enriching afternoon. The Mint Museum Uptown features collections from all around the world while fine art can be seen at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. The Levine Museum of the New South focuses more on southern art and post-civil war collections.
Shows
Broadway hits are always playing at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center while there are a host of other venues that also specialize in the theatre. Avid theatre-goers can find something new to see all the time as there is a wide selection of quality shows playing in Charlotte. The Noda district has been the longtime center of the arts scene in Charlotte. Complete with a long line of art galleries, live music, and cultural hot spots, a trip to the Noda arts district is a refreshing destination any day of the week.
Organizations of the arts
Charlotte is the base for artist guilds that cater to all types of artists. Meanwhile, the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg is a proud supporter of 27 different cultural organizations. Membership and participation in these organizations are both welcomed and encouraged. The Guild of Charlotte artists has been in existence since 1948 and specializes in the visual arts.
